Roberta Vinci reaches career-high No. 123 in WTA rankings
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 15 () -- Roberta Vinci last week improved to 8-1 in WTA tournament finals and reached a career milestone in the process.Vinci defeated No. 1-seeded Petra Kvitova 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 in Sunday's final of the BNP Paribas Katowice Open in Poland for her eighth WTA title. It was the ninth time she advanced to a title match and eighth time she came away a winner.The 280 rankings points that came with the championship edged Vinci up one spot in the world rankings to 12th, which is her career high.Serena Williams continues to hold onto the No. 1 spot in the women's tennis rankings.
