Operatic Detroit Tigers hot dog vendor Charley Marcuse let go
DETROIT, Sept. 7 () -- Charley Marcuse, the singing hot dog vendor of Comerica Park, says he has been shown the door after 15 years of serenading hungry Detroit Tigers fans.Marcuse, who has been belting out operatic sales pitches for his dogs since the stadium opened, was apparently let go by the park's concessionaire for reasons that remained unknown Saturday, gucci outelt store, The Detroit News said."After 15 years the @Tigers finally got what they've always wanted," Marcuse wrote on Twitter Friday. The newspaper said Marcuse signed off with the hash tag, cheap gucci belt, "LongLiveMustard."The Tigers referred questions about Marcuse to the concessionaire, Delaware North Companies Sportservice, which declined comment on what was considered a personnel matter, the report said.Marcuse was a bit of a fixture at Comerica, not only for his booming voice -- which some fans considered a distraction -- but also for his vocal disdain for putting ketchup on his dogs, which the News said didn't sit well with some fans.
