"We can't thank the Stratton Faxon Danbury Road Races enough for their support of the Newtown Police Union and exposure to our cause,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Newtown Police Union vice president, detective in a statement.
The Newtown Police Union is also inviting police,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], fire and medical personnel (past and present) from around the state to join the "" to run the half marathon or 5k.
The race is once again hosted by the , which promotes sporting events in the Danbury area.
The half marathon course remains the same and runs through Danbury, Bethel and Redding. The courses for the 5k and are run entirely within Danbury. All the events start and finish in Danbury's Rogers Park.
Derse Deniboba of Ethiopia won last year's half marathon with a time of 1:07:06,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but he is not registered for Sunday.
Ethiopia's , who finished second last year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], will back to try and reclaim the overall title he took home in 2010 and 2011.
One of Tefera's biggest challenges will come from fellow countryman Fikadu Lemma,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Tezate Dengerse of Turkey won the women's race last year with a time of 1:22:15,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but has not committed to this year's race.
