Home Mommy 2010 February
Even after developing a Friends alphabets chart for that boy and did some alphabet learning activities, the boy still doesn show any interest in learning the alphabets. The only real alphabet he knew was none other than the big M from Macdonalds. -_- To become frank, I obtaining a little anxious. I believe he should at least know some alphabets before he starts his pre-school education in September.
Since the method I used on the girl is not working on the boy, I have to rethink concerning the strategies to teach him. One of these, was to tap on our bedtime story time and incorporate a simple alphabet recognition activity by mentioning the alphabet that I plan to introduce him every time it appears in text.
A number of his current favorites storybooks come from the Froggy series by Jonathan London, and if you have read it before you decide to knows about the classic chant when Froggy parents or someone called him and that the word is going to be written in large capital letters with bright colors. After 1 night of mentioning all of the alphabet F during our story time, he appeared to recognize the letter. So, I managed to move on to do some craft activity the next few days is perfect for Foxy, the fox.
Saw this cute craft on Homeschool Creations (Link) and immediately considered another book,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Turkeys Free by W. Nikola-Lisa that people enjoyed reading very much. In the story, Foxy the fox was about the prowl for that beautiful hand prints turkeys. The boy loved the storyline a lot he even created several versions of their own Foxy the fox the Turkeys story during our bedtime story time! (Maybe I ought to upload some videos later too.)
A simple cut paste activity. He is quite good by using scissors now.
But after making these craft with him, I was still not so sure if he recognized the alphabet F because after i asked him to suggest the letter to me on the Alphabet chart, he could still point the wrong one! (Hair pulling!)
I quickly discovered some mommies facebook comments about a fun online Alphabet game (Link) for the toddlers, I made a decision to give it a try. True enough, after A couple of days of playing the overall game, the boy finally recognizes his first alphabet! Hurray!!
Now one down and 24 more to visit,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]!! -_-

My KPO sometimes overly helpful son likes to bring my glasses in my experience in the morning, despite me telling him will be able to get it myself. Not too I don appreciate his help, *take a deep breath* this boy has to date managed to break two pairs (beyond repair)and bent another two pairs of my glasses, all inside a span of annually! =_=
The newest casualty is the cheap $70 glasses that I produced in Singapore last June. So,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I was forced to make another $150 (after insurance deduction) pair at our local optical shop just two months ago. -_- Seriously, I don realise why the prescription glasses here in the States are so expensive! I recall my cheapest set of glasses, that we got from a wholesale warehouse here, still cost me about $100. no anti-scratch or anti-reflective) or special lens. It is just a very normal looking set of glasses. -_-
So, imagine my excitement when I came across Zenni Optical on some mommies blogs last week, (I am not putting their links here, but when you are interested just google : "Zenni Optical + mommy blog) and also got to know which i actually do possess a option to get reduced prescription glasses here in US!! A look at the products this online optical company is providing, their cheapest eyeglasses start of them costing only $8 (!!) and all sorts of glasses also includes anti-scratch coating,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], full UV protection and etc, AND a microfiber lens cleaning cloth!!
(This pair for $8! Pretty good, right?)
Side track a little, I have to reveal to you a very frustrating experience I have with Eyes Optical Co that I recently got my $150 glasses from. You might think that it is a considering the fact that a bit of lens cleaning cloth would come free with acquisition of a pair of $150+ prescription glasses, right? But no, it wasn the case with this particular optical co! They wanted to charge me $1.50 for any bit of cloth!! Come on, Foreyes! I confident that bit of cloth doesn cost that much for you and you can certainly provide for free like a gesture of appreciation for your customers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], right? *roll eyes*
Anyway,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to Zenni From what I continue reading the website, the key reason why they could afford glasses at such a inexpensive happens because
the corporation deliver many direct using their factories to customers. There is no middleman, no retail overhead, practically no advertising budget plus they only sell their very own manufactured brand ZENNI.
Obviously, I have to admit, I was VERY skeptical initially when i first find out about them. But reading so many comments that were left on these mommies blogs, I believe I'll give the corporation a try. Well, it is a fact that there are drawbacks for buying a prescription glasses online: I can use them before I purchase, I can have someone to adjust them on my small face, and that i probably will need to go back to my optician to measure my pupil distance before I can order them online,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or even to complete any adjusting myself if the frames don exactly work directly on my face. But, I think it still worth it because even if the glasses aren any good, I only out by $13 ($8 glasses + $4.95 s/h), but would save a minimum of $80++!
Since I convinced, I actually do hope I won't procrastinate too long to get my prescription information from my optician soon to ensure that I can order my spare pair soon! *Pray hard that the boy doesn get too helpful (read: hands before I get another spare glasses done!
Despite the fact that Valentines doesn really means much to me, I still enjoy celebrating this day with my loved ones. I think it the thought that counts. I don need diamonds (hmm DH, if you are reading this, what i meant was I don need small diamonds. Big Big Carats one,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I likey! ), romantic dinner at posh restaurant or some electronics products like iphone,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 32 hd tv, camera etc. To me, Valentine day is simply a day to have fun show Extra like to our family members and also to feel loved.
Hope all of you were built with a wonderful Valentine day!
Niklas made this brown bag Valentine carrier at our local library when his sister was at school. I was rather surprised to see he has got the patience to loop the yarn with the paper punch holes all by himself. Maybe we did a lot of craft projects lately. He kind of lost curiosity about the pasting decoration area of the craft project. So,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I'd to force encourage and help him to brighten his Valentine carrier with paper doilies and heart cutouts. Whenever we were finally completed with the craft, he was quite happy with it and insisted on wearing the carrier enjoy it was a necklace! Haha! *smile*
The girl class will celebrate Valentine Day next Friday so that as part of their celebration, they will be exchanging Valentine cards. Since we will be very busy preparing for Chinese Year next week, I decided to assist her in making them today when the boy was taking his afternoon nap. When i wasn in the mood to behave new, I decided to recycle some old craft idea instead. I took on the old craft project which we did 4 years back from your basement and asked the girl to produce similar hearty animals on her cards.
Using the hearts cutout that I pre-cut for her, she started to write the Valentine message, and create every single card by hand. After making about 50 % twelve of them, she started to be creative and created hearty flowers, butterfly and dragonfly, which aren't from my original patterns. Seeing that she is using her creativity to create new things, makes me really happy! I think all of the cards look really lovely, don you believe so?
