Beth McDonough finds new plan after going 'to the dogs'
Former FOX 9 crime reporter Beth McDonough admits that her life "has kind of attended the dogs," but that could be a good thing for her new business venture.
Two DUIs in under 2 yrs brought a regrettable end to McDonough's stellar TV career,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Crime reporters cannot repeatedly arrive about the police blotter such as this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
She takes full responsibility for which she did to her TV career,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where she was known for her fair yet hard-hitting style. In light of all that,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this is an appropriate name for a company. I've always believed that whenever I acquired done with TV which i would start some sort of a business that has got to do with animals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 'cause I simply love dogs a lot."
Saylor was a regular at FOX 9 until all non-working dogs got banned when somebody's pooch pooped in an anchor's shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Much as McDonough loves taking care of other people's dogs she's decided to stop doing the work for free. "I need to make a living and Waitress or Walking is up and running for business,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she said. Her strategic business plan requires a transition from dog walking to dog daycare.
"At one point I will have my very own building and established kennel/ daycare within the Minnetonka area,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she said. She has a permit,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], license,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is insured and bonded. She's studied 5 doggie daycare operations she considers the metro's best: "I've spoke with all of the owners and I've asked them,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 'Why would you talk to me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],' and they said, We have more business than we can handle."
Word for other women
McDonough has were able to do something productive with nearly every aspect of confronting alcoholism.
"You might recall that I was on house arrest for a month,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she said. "I'm a can-do type of girl,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so while I'd an ankle bracelet on I said,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 'Well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I can not leave my home,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], what must i do with my time?' And so i sat down and hammered out a book in a single month."
Tentatively titled "Standby,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," McDonough said,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "Here's the rough draft,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I have 46 chapters [and a publisher]. It's done. I need to go back,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], tweak and do some editing. It starts in the nights my second arrest for DUI,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then backtracks to how I got to this time."
In 2008,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], McDonough learned from family members that they was genetically predisposed to alcoholism. Her biological dad,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who died when she would be a small child,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], was an alcoholic.
"I just didn't want anyone else to undergo what I did to myself. I wanted to help other alcoholics,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], particularly women,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], since there is this type of stigma mounted on it. It's embarrassing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's humiliating. . It hits hard in females because our body fat absorbs 30 % more alcohol than men,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she said.
McDonough said that FOX 9 news director Bill Dallman offered her help after her first DUI. She didn't go because she couldn't accept a sentence that included her name and also the word alcoholic. "You had inquired about what lessons I learned,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," McDonough said. "I did have discussions with a couple of TV stations in town [nothing materialized] due to the economic situation. Most people are having more layoffs than hiring right now. "
While talks with KSTP-TV were more substantive,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], McDonough said she's never been inside the KSTP building.
McDonough landed employment at "a top ten market [in the South],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but that will require me to depart. I am not leaving Minnesota. This really is home. I have a boyfriend,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I've got a life,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I have a business now."
McDonough looks fabulous,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. She thinks that has connected with not working extended hours and achieving more time to workout.
