At the other end from the scale, luxury brands such as Prada make significant inroads into the wardrobes of professional women, while Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik have achieved almost mythical status for his or her sexy statement heels.
But how about all that ground between? Within the same time period,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], two stand-alone fashion shoe retailers (instead of multi-brand ones) have started to prominence in the shops: Clarks and Kurt Geiger. Kurt Geiger focuses on higher-priced (but not too high) sexy fashion shoes for women who would like the cachet of designer footwear such as the want to spend silly money. It's a shopfit that has become area of the brand's identity and it is extremely effective. My only concern is the way that such a bold (and perhaps disorienting) use of mirrors makes me anxious about smacking my face in to the fixtures. The collection is split into several sub-brands - Carvela,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], KG, Miss KG,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mr KG,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and so on - which is a bit confusing. I don't know the difference,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when there is any. It's all regulated glamorous in a sexy, Saturday-night type of way,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and clearly inspired by recent runway collections. The most fashion-forward sub-brand is Kurt Geiger London, which Melanie (who was with me) points out has the most fashion edge. The best styles include the Katwalk wedge using its floral lower half and also the Leonardo pink and grey shoes. I am also astounded by some of the eyewear.
Despite its underwhelming 'off piste' location,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], both the team and also the merchandise put in a excellent performance on my visit. My one suggestion could be: watch out for the bling. Glamorous and sexy slide easily into slutty. Brands for example Zara have managed to maintain today's and aspirational feel at accessible prices without losing sophistication. Beyond that, I am not concerned. Kurt Geiger is protected and sound.
