As part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], real moms (and kids!) walked the runway in a variety of contemporary looks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to the tunes of 9-year-old DJ Fulano. A parade of mothers and their children worked the runway in a variety of accessible looks and brands. All different shapes and sizes of women were represented. Even a pregnant mom to-be-took a turn down the runway. This unique Fashion Week show has a clear mission to let mothers everywhere know that fashion is for them too and they want to help moms everywhere feel like that really can do it all.
Special guest Wendy Williams introduced the show featuring The Moms Melissa Gerstein and Denise Albert and Director of Fashion Week Stephanie Winston Wolkoff who executive-produced the show. Wendy said a few words about what it means to be a fashionable mom and encouraged women to maintain their identity beyond just being a mother. Additional Moms and attendees included Lisa Rinna,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], WWE's Stephanie McMahon,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ramy Brook and Alexis Welch. They quickly got the party started. Some moms strutted alone and other walked hand in hand with their little ones. The confidence that these everyday women radiated from the runway as they waved and blew kisses to loved ones in the audience was truly inspiring. Actress Lisa Rinna walked in the show and added quite a bit of fun and sass to the mix.
New Balance showcased their one-of-a-kind custom made Komen gown made out of New Balance 860 v2's sneakers from the Lace up for the Cure collection,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], designed by New York based designer Jacqueline Quinn. "Model" mom Shari Brooks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who lost her mother to breast cancer wore the dress proud down the runway at last night's Strut Fashionable Mom's show at the tents in Lincoln Center. The dress features the 860v2 mesh fabric on the bodice and skirt and the "N" logo overlays on the sides of the corset. Additionally,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the dress will be highlighted during Lace Up for the Cure fashion shows at the New Balance Experience stores (October 3 - Boston,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], October 11 - New York City). Breast cancer survivors will model looks from the Lace Up for the Cure Collection. "New Balance is committed to supporting the promise of Komen for the Cure and raising funds through corporate and consumer donations,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], including those made through purchases of our Lace Up for the Cure Collection,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," says Amy Shapiro,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], cause marketing manager for New Balance. "We believe we can make a significant contribution to breast cancer education and research by promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles as a way to reduce the risk of breast cancer."
