Designer of Snooki baby Italian flag shoes opens up
When the first pictures of Snooki's baby landed on the cover of People Magazine all eyes were on that adorable little mouth and those darling bedazzled Italian flag shoes. If you immediately hit up Google to find out where Snooki got the custom made shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you weren't alone. Fortunately, with a little help from Snooki's stylist Jeni Elizabeth,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we tracked down Lorenzo's shoe designer.

Meet Laurie Hale - the owner and head artist of The Dazzle Diva. She's a single mom living,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], working, and growing her thriving business in Maine. Her adorable custom made baby items have grabbed the attention of a growing list of celebrities clients, but it was the shoes she designed for Snooki's baby that left her in tears.
In an exclusive interview,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Dazzle Diva tells us how she turned a hobby and eBay business into landing on the cover of the most read American magazine - People.
Melissa Viscount,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Examiner: Tell me a little bit about the shoe's Lorenzo is wearing on the cover of People.
Laurie Hale,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Dazzle Diva: Lorenzo's shoes are made on genuine leather baby shoes that were custom designed by myself. They are made with genuine Swarovski crystals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], each stone placed by hand one at a time. Depending on the size of the shoe the cost starts around $125.00.
MV: How did you get involved in making the shoes and gift set for Snooki and Lorenzo,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
LH: I was contacted a little over a month before Snooki's baby shower by her team to create the items for Snooki. She had gone through my website and saw different things that she liked and wanted. I designed the Italian Flag shoes exclusively for her because I thought they would be a perfect match and something that I had not made for anyone yet. So baby Lorenzo was the first to rock them! I also designed her a baby blue set and a leopard set,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and a Royal Crown layette gown set.
MV: Did you know the shoes would be on the cover of People?
LH: I knew that the items were going to be photographed in a magazine,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but never in my wildest dreams did I think that they were going to be on the cover of People! I had tears in my eyes when I got the email!
MV: How does a huge spotlight like this impact business,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
LH: This was huge for me. I have worked with several other celebrities and recently Howie Mandel wore my crystallized converse shoes on the Kelly Ripa show. That was amazing as well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but this was the cover of PEOPLE!! I have been designing items like this for over ten years. I give a lot back to children with cancer and for me this helps the cause that much more. I am a single mom raising small children so an opportunity like this was huge and I am so grateful to God to give me the talent in what I do to be able to create these items and also give back when I can as well.
MV: You also made the Hello Kitty ring Snooki showed off on Twitter, right?
LH: Yes! When Snooki went through my website she put that on her order. This was already an item on my site and from what my 16 year old daughter tells me she loves Hello Kitty,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so she had to have the ring.
MV: How did your business get started and how did it develop into such a 'go to' for celebrities looking to outfit their little ones?
LH: I started making items about 16 years ago when I had my daughter. There were so many beautiful items out there and I just could not afford the high cost. I used to see these outfits and accessories and say to myself "I can make this!" So I did,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and when I would take my daughter out people would stop me and ask me where I got the items. I told them I made them. So then I started a Myspace,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ebay and and started to post the items. I had a huge response from people all over the world and it blew up from there. I then began a Twitter account where I connected with a fabulous business mom owner and designer of Miss Priss Tutu's. She helped me tremendously on getting my items out there. I connected with The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and Shanna Moakler and it blew up even more. Now I have stylists from celebs that contact me directly. I also gift to celebs to get my name out there as well. I have done designs for many celebs and have a huge amazing clientele. I adore my customers and have made so many friends all around the world.
