Kmart has seen better days, once the leader in discount retail stores,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is now hanging on by a thread and has tried to make over its image through the years but without success. Kmart and its infamous "blue light special" and its catchphrase "attention Kmart shoppers" were a part of American pop culture and jargon.
Inspections by Division of Consumer Affairs investigators found a total of 257 packages of infant formula and/or non-prescription medications that were from 9 months to 29 months past the expiration date,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but still available for purchase on the shelves at the 19 stores. Investigators purchased a total of 68 expired items. Kmart had to agree to several plans to monitor and police themselves and submit a quarterly report back to the Division of Consumer Affairs. Kmart will also provide funding for random, unannounced inspections of its New Jersey stores by the Division of Consumer Affairs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], continuing for one year.
