Carly Fiorina accumulates endorsements from moderate,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Sen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Barbara Boxer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
The group's chairman,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Larry Higby,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said the decision was "a relatively close call" between Fiorina and former Rep. Tom Campbell,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a monetary conservative who supported gay marriage and abortion rights.
"The real picture was that we felt that Carly had a much better opportunity to beat Barbara Boxer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Higby,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], adding that Fiorina's business background her debating skills were viewed as major assets. "I believe that really swung members this way."
The brand new Majority,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which presently has more than 300 members in four chapters,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], was formed in 1999 using the purpose of electing more mainstream,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], fiscally conservative Republicans. Each of the group members is required to contribute $10,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],000 annually.
The group's members were prominent backers of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2003. Its annual finances are $3.5 million,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], according to its website. In the first quarter of this year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the brand new Majority California's federal political action committee reported about $56,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],000 in money on hand. J. Pitney Jr.,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a government professor at Claremont McKenna College,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said the nod could make a positive change for Fiorina "if installed their checkbooks where their endorsement is."
Fiorina also announced the endorsement Tuesday from the California Pro-Life Council,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], an affiliate of the National To Life Committee. Both Fiorina and also the third Republican candidate in the race,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Orange County Assemblyman Chuck DeVore,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], oppose abortion rights. But California Pro-Life Council Executive Director Brian Johnston said inside a statement released by Fiorina's campaign the former Hewlett-Packard executive was "clearly the only real pro-life candidate who are able to beat both Tom Campbell and Barbara Boxer."
