Business inventories unchanged, sales down 1.1 percent in March
WASHINGTON, May 13 () -- Business inventories were unchanged in March, while sales dropped 1.1 percent, the U.S. Census Bureau said Monday.Inventories held steady at $1.64 trillion, while sales declined to $1.27 trillion. The monthly figure adding up manufacturing and trade inventories came in lower than the consensus forecast, which predicted inventory growth of 0.3 percent.Inventories were up 4.95percent above March 2012.Sales on the wholesale level were up 1.8 percent from a year earlier. The total business inventories to sales ratio, was 1.29, based on seasonally adjusted data, the Census Bureau said. A year ago, hollister coupons, the ratio was 2.26.The ratio indicates how long it will take to sell existing inventory at current prices. As the ratio rises, moncler uk, it indicates manufacturers may have too much inventory on hand and may adjust by slowing production.
