Famed shoe designer Christian Louboutin loves wearing comfortable sneakers, but says for women,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's far more important to look good than to feel good.
Louboutin, a diminutive 47-year-old Frenchman,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], equates "comfort" in fashion with ugliness.
"I hate the whole concept of comfort!" Louboutin tells the New Yorker. "It's like when people say, 'Well, we're not really in love, but we're in a comfortable relationship.' You're abandoning a lot of ideas when you are too into comfort."
'Comfort Is Like a Sad, Puffy Woman'
When Christian thinks of comfort, he pictures a sad,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], bloated woman who gave up on herself.
" 'Comfy'- that's one of the worst words!" he says. "I just picture a woman feeling bad, with a big bottle of alcohol, really puffy. It's really depressing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but she likes her life because she has comfortable clogs."
And Louboutin hates flat,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], ballerina shoes or any shoe that's too soft.
"One thing I detest is when a shoe is too soft, and it's molding to the foot," he says. "This is quite disgusting. And I really, really hate incredibly long shoes, where the last is very pointy, almost like Aladdin."
Louboutin,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], whose clients include celebrities and fashion models, is especially known for his signature red lacquer sole. Christian, who also sells flat, comfortable men's shoes, says he designs his sexy heels with men in mind.
"The core of my work is dedicated not to pleasing women, but to pleasing men," he says. "Men are like bulls - they cannot resist the red sole."

Meanwhile, scores of women who wear high heels every day end up with major foot and other problems,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], such as back pain,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], bunions, corns, calluses,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], stress fractures,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hammertoes and nerve damage.
"Women do love their high heels,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but if you wear them all the time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], significant foot pain and other problems can ensue, either as a direct result of the heels or exacerbated by them," according to Morris Morin, director of podiatric medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Indeed, Kelly Osbourne, who recently lost a stunning 50 pounds, has said she needs to get foot surgery and have doctors break all the bones in her feet and reset them because of damage stemming high heels.
